If you’re like me, and enjoy listening to the music videos on Youtube, you may get tired of having to manually click the replay button every time the song ends.

It is possible to reiterate each video on it’s own, all you have to do is enter in a URI with specific looping parameters. The following is the format you will use to accomplish this task:

http://www.youtube.com/v/(VideoID)&loop=1

This will redirect you to a much longer URI, but don’t worry about it, it will still achieve the same results. To see a full list of Youtube parameters available, just visit their embedded player parameters page.

To find the ID of a Youtube video however, visit the video page as you would normally would, like this one for example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUVwcnhoUJQ

Every character after the equals sign is included in the video ID (meaning this video’s ID is YUVwcnhoUJQ). So in order to repeat this video automatically (and to see an example of a repeating video in action), the full URI will be:

http://www.youtube.com/v/YUVwcnhoUJQ&loop=1

This is a great way to listen to your favorite songs over and over again without much effort, (while purchasing the song or album at a later date, of course).

UPDATE 5/18/2009 = The old video seems to have died, so I put up another one, a really great new song.

PLEASE HELP ABOUT YOUTUBE ON A SIMILIAR QUESTION TO YOUR AUTOMATIC REPLAY INFO.
THIS IS EVEN MORE PRACTICAL AND I KNOW IT CAN BE DONE BECAUSE IT SOMETIMES HAS HAPPENED SPONTANEOUSLY BUT I COULDN’T FIGURE OUT HOW – IT’S SIMPLY THIS: YOU KNOW HOW YOUTUBE VIDEOS ARE BROKEN DOWN INTO 10 MIN SECTIONS AND POSTED AS PART 1 THROUGH PART WHATEVER? HOW CAN I HAVE THEM PLAY IN SUCCESSION WHEN I WANT TO LIE IN BED AND LISTEN TO COAST TO COAST (FOR INSTANCE) AND NOT HAVE TO GET UP EVERY 10 MINUTES TO CLICK ON THE NEXT PART? I WILL WORSHIP AND LOVE YOU FOR LIFE IF YOU CAN TELL ME THIS. PLEASE EMAIL DIRECTLY. CJO2112@AOL.COM THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH

That’s not the correct link structure, convert it the way I showed you:
http://www.youtube.com/v/QhwQay4QiOw&loop=1

As for the playlist, they give you instructions to do so here:

This totally works! It may be a bit confusing….so this is how I did it.

HERE IS A NORMAL LINK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUVwcnhoUJQ

OKAY, so, what you do is…..delete the “watch?” out of the url

Then…..put another backslash after the “v” and delete the “=”

So it looks like this: http://www.youtube.com/v/YUVwcnhoUJQ

LASTLY…..put “&loop=1″ at the end of the URL

So this is what you turn up with: http://www.youtube.com/v/YUVwcnhoUJQ&loop=1

It makes a lot more sense seeing it this way. I hope this helped you guys figure it out. This is the best idea ever!!!

Hey James,

Thank you for the VERY useful information, it worked like a charm for me (after first also just copy pasting the “&loop=1″ and realising I had missed the “/v/” part *wink*).
However, even though it worked brilliantly, the resulting video is shown as browser filling (not full screen though), is it also possible to have the video play in “normal” size?
I like to play music video’s as background music while studying but my girlfriend would rather not see the pixelated video (see e.g. http://www.youtube.com/v/WRp5qOun63s&loop=1)
Once again thank you for the useful information, hopefully you can help me.

Kind regards,

Albert

I don’t know how to physically change the size of the player, the parameters are for the embedded flash player.

You’d probably have to use a service like Youtube Repeat to play a video normally.

This does not work with the playlist because every time a song changes on the playlist the id changes and adds one more word to the end of the url
this only works if you want to hear the same song over and over and God knows I have had those days, but today I want to hear the whole playlist over and over again.
I thought about waiting till the last song on the playlist loaded and add the loop to that but not sure if that will work.
But I tried everything with the playlist and it does not work, it just repeats the same tune over and over again which is the first tune.
But thanks anyways this is pretty useful info, now I can play around with the codes to try get the playlist (complete) to play.

Here’s what I do,

Find the YouTube video you want to repeat.

In the address bar, add the word “infinite” before the word YouTube. When you are finished your address bar should be changed from:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMH0bHeiRNg

To

http://www.infiniteyoutube.com/watch?v=dMH0bHeiRNg

Drag the sliders to only repeat a certain part of the video.

You can also go to http://www.infiniteyoutube.com and just paste in a link to the video or even search for videos.

Hi I been trying to make a list shuffle when playing outside youtube. I’ve tried &shuffle and &playnext_from=PL&shuffle but it’s not working do you think that parameter was blocked for videos playing outside their website or am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your help.
